Hamas is evil.

This shouldn't be a controversial take or something that the U.S. tiptoes around. Plain and simple, we do not sympathize with terrorists.

Seeing the Biden Administration walk on eggshells when discussing the Hamas terror organization is beyond frustrating.

When I served in the U.S. Special Forces as an Army Green Beret, one of my deployments was to Israel. While there, I fought alongside the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) to eliminate Hamas.

Biden now wants leniency with Hamas, which is unacceptable. 

You don't show leniency to a terror group that attacks our strongest ally in the Middle East. You don't show leniency when terrorists pour over the Israeli border and mercilessly kill civilians.

While Biden continues to falter on condemning Hamas and supporting Israel, I'll proudly stand with Israel. Hamas should be wiped off the map.

Four years ago we rang the alarm bell about how the Democrats, in complete control of our state government in Richmond, had passed Virginia's own "New Green Deal" called the Virginia Clean Economy Act or VCEA. We noted that Governor Northam had signed this law, which would destroy the Commonwealth's rural and coastal environments and force Virginians to pay more for electricity (and raise costs on all products and services), for the "good of the environment". On Earth Day, today, we are reminding our readers how Democrats (and some Republican lobbyists) are hurting our forests, farmland, wildlife, waterways and whales by re-posting our informational videos on VCEA (see below). The Biden Administration has also been pushing these "Green Policies" on the national level. As you know, the House of Representatives approved another $60 billion for Ukraine this weekend. A majority of House Republicans voted against the bill. Kudos to them. They kept their promise to not vote for additional money to secure Ukraine's borders unless the Democrats agreed to really secure America's border.

The country is split on whether we should continue giving more money to Ukraine. But the polling is clear. When you ask voters whether additional funding for Ukraine should be approved without securing America's border, the answer is a resounding "NO!"

The other thing that really irritated me was the behavior of House "progs." After the bill passed, they pulled out Ukrainian flags and waved them on the House floor. Were they elected to represent Ukraine or the United States?

This is the same party whose supporters say they are frightened when they see people flying American flags. (Here and here.)

That's not an exaggeration. Ukrainian priests are being thrown in jail for belonging to a church of which Volodymyr Zelenskyy disapproves, and the United States is funding those arrests.

Thanks to dishonest Western media, most Americans are not privy to this kind of information. But they should be.

Senator Shelley Moore Capito: The Latest

On February 13, the House of Representatives agreed to Articles of Impeachment against Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas for his "willful and systemic refusal to comply with the law" and his "breach of public trust." I have said repeatedly that I firmly believe the Senate should conduct a full impeachment trial for Secretary Mayorkas. Unfortunately, Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Senate Democrats refused to do this.

It is the constitutional duty given to the U.S. Senate to try all impeachments. That's why the Senate has held some form of a trial for every impeachment in our history, unless the federal officer resigned prior to a trial. I am disappointed in Senator Schumer and Senate Democrats for their inability to follow the Senate rules. The actions by all Democrats to prevent the Senate from holding a trial and hearing evidence is not only unconscionable, it's a disservice to the American people who elected us to do our jobs and uphold our constitutional duty.

Legislative Update

Last week, I joined a bipartisan group of 33 Senate colleagues to introduce a Congressional Review Act (CRA) resolution to overturn the Securities and Exchange Commission's (SEC) recently finalized radical climate disclosure rule. This effort by the SEC would bury public companies in paperwork, raise costs for consumers, and stifle economic opportunity. Click here to learn more.

Recently, I sent a letter to U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra urging him to fully implement Jessie's Law. This bipartisan legislation helps ensure best practices are in place so physicians and other medical professionals have knowledge of a patient's history with substance use disorder when determining appropriate medical care. I also joined my colleague, Senator Chris Coons (D-Del.), in introducing the Safe and Secure Housing for Opioid Recovery and Enduring Stability (Safe SHORES) Act of 2024. This bill will give state recovery housing programs additional resources to assist those in need of a stable residence during what we know can be a difficult path to recovery and takes another step forward in the fight against opioids in our West Virginia communities. EPA's PFAS Designations

On Friday, the EPA announced their decision to designate two legacy per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), also known as "forever chemicals," as hazardous substances under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA). This constitutes the first time the EPA has ever designated a hazardous substance under CERCLA without first designating the substance as such under another environmental statute.

This unprecedented decision puts local communities and ratepayers on the hook for PFAS contamination they had nothing to do with in the first place. Along with many others in Congress, I have repeatedly warned the EPA about the unintended consequences stemming from this rule, which will have disproportionate impacts on providers of essential public services such as water and waste utilities, airports, farmers and ranchers, and fire departments. This ill-advised decision underscores the urgent need for Congress to act. We must pass legislation to safeguard American ratepayers from the financial burden imposed by this misguided rule. Dan Stein: Illegal Immigration is changing the environment as we know it

The migration of hundreds of thousands of people through Central America to the United States is changing the environment before our very eyes. And it is only getting worse. The Darien Gap, a once remote patch of rainforest straddling the border Panama and Colombia, is reeling from the damage caused by hundreds of thousands of migrants hiking through it on their way to our southern border. The number of migrants traversing the Darien Gap has increased dramatically in the past three years. In 2020, the Panamanian government estimated that 6,000 migrants traversed it. In 2021, those numbers grew to 133,000.  In 2022, the number was over 250,000 and in 2023, over 500,000 migrants traversed the Darien Gap, destroying its delicate ecosystem and threatening the region's rare animals. The effect illegal immigration has on our environment is often overlooked but illegal migration is literally changing the world as we know it, with irreversible dire consequences.

In addition to threatening animals on the edge of extinction, mass illegal migration puts pressure on our nation's already finite natural resources. It contributes to urban sprawl which consumes the United States landscape while sharply increasing housing prices. And with many migrants coming in all at once, it burdens the U.S power grid and increases our carbon footprint and pollution levels. And let's not forget the pollutants generated by migrant camps from toxic human waste and litter that infiltrates our country's rivers and streams. The Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) seeks solutions that reduce the negative impact of uncontrolled immigration on our environment.

Our involvement with the National Day of Prayer (NDOP) spans all the way back from 1986 to the present time. Back then there was an amazing sense of tranquility and security in our culture, largely thanks to President Ronald Reagan's policy of "peace through strength." Year after year, I saw the deterioration in America from increasing moral confusion on issues such as abortion, homosexuality, pornography, and divorce. The more American television rejected Christian morality, the more it consumed people's lives and shaped their lifestyles. Then came the advent of the cell phone whereby Americans, young and old alike, had their minds bombarded with messaging, images, inuendo, addictive sexual content and skillful propaganda from near and far. 

With each passing year, questions arose in my heart and soul, "How long, oh Lord, before you are going to deal with our increasingly degraded homeland?"  2015: the U.S. Supreme Court passes Obergefell v. Hodges, legally affirming homosexual "marriage." In 2022, Roe v. Wade was overturned, returning the abortion question to each state jurisdiction. Good news, but since then many states, both red and blue, when given the opportunity to vote for strong pro-life legislation, voted to protect abortion measures.

Throughout those many years of observing the NDOP events, the most familiar scripture highlighted year after year was 2 Chronicles 7:14. "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."

I believe then as I do now.  Surely God sees.  Surely He will judge.  But, He has graciously given us year after year to turn from our wicked ways.  And, we did not!  One now wonders if God will yet grant us another year of His grace and if we may yet have the freedom to gather and to pray openly.  Just last year, Christians were arrested for praying in front of abortion clinics. In his proclamations this past Easter, President Biden had more warmth for transgenders than he did for Christians. Meanwhile, China's influence on the United States is only growing through their "unrestricted warfare," and the UN's "climate agenda" is being imposed on our industries and food supply. We are in deep trouble in so many ways, and the only good explanation for how we're still here as a nation is God's grace.

I'm not trying to be dramatic.  But, in our state of lethargy are we capable of repenting and turning from our wicked ways?

On Thursday, May 2, 2024 from noon to 1:00 PM we will be hosting a National Day of Prayer event at ADA's auditorium at 203 E. Main Street, Fremont, MI.

Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation: UN Adopts VOC Recommendations to Counter Forced Labor “Xinjiang Blindspot”

In a major blow to China's system of oppression, the United Nations' International Labor Organization (ILO) refreshed its handbook on combatting forced labor, issuing new guidelines to address the risk in global supply chains. The ILO adopted nearly all of VOC's recommendations to more accurately measure and counter forced labor. Changes to the ILO's handbook—detailed in a new article published in the China Brief by VOC's China Director Dr. Adrian Zenz—address key shortcomings and now squarely target Beijing's system of forced labor. This refresh also addresses what VOC described as the "Xinjiang blindspot" in ILO forced labor metrics, which largely missed coerced work perpetrated by authoritarian regimes and employed outdated measurement frameworks. If properly followed, these new guidelines will make it harder for companies to deny the risk of forced labor in factories they have connections with, like Volkswagen recently did in a widely criticized "audit" of its operations in Xinjiang. This update also presents potentially major implications for forced labor legislation worldwide, including the US Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (UFLPA) and the European Union's proposed forced labor ban that is poised for a parliamentary vote on April 23. "Given how seldom the ILO updates its forced labor guidelines, the influence of VOC's research on this revision to the UN's forced labor standards is a historic outcome," said Ambassador Andrew Bremberg, VOC's President Emeritus and a former US Ambassador to the UN. "The timing of this update could not be more critical considering that the EU Parliament is about to vote on its own forced labor ban which is entirely dependent on having strong ILO standards. The United States must now push for stringent enforcement and monitoring mechanisms within the ILO to hold the CCP accountable." The ILO's update builds on a paper published by VOC in November 2023 in the Journal of Human Trafficking after discussions with senior ILO officials detailed how these metrics fail to adequately capture state-imposed forced labor in places like Xinjiang, Tibet, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Tajikistan. The report proposed a new framework to assess "non-internment state-imposed" forced labor such as what Beijing perpetrates against ethnic minorities. "Because of the systemic nature of forced labor in Xinjiang and the inability of Uyghurs to speak freely during audits or on-site visits by investigators, the only way to properly enforce a ban that captures Uyghur forced labor is to shift the burden of proof to importing companies, as the UFLPA does," said Dr. Adrian Zenz, VOC's China Director and the author of its November paper on the topic. "While the European Council unfortunately removed this critical provision from the EU's draft regulation, they can still capture Uyghur forced labor by adhering closely to the ILO's new guidelines, which for the first time, now specify that one can establish the presence of forced labor through the existence of a state policy, its enforcement in the region, and the general inability to assess specific instances of forced labor on the ground." "Beijing has tainted global supply chains so pervasively that products made with Uyghur forced labor, from the cotton in clothes to the tomatoes in ketchup, are almost unavoidable in the global marketplace," said Dr. Eric Patterson, VOC's President and CEO. "The new ILO guidelines shaped by VOC's research are a crucial step to ending Beijing's ability to turn its mass atrocities into profit. We urge all authorities and national governments, especially our European allies and friends in the Western Hemisphere, to pass and properly enforce robust legislation to end this outrage and protect citizens from unwittingly financing Beijing's attritional genocide of the Uyghurs."

Massacre Averted

Federal and local law enforcement officials have prevented what could have been a horrific massacre in the Washington, D.C., suburb of Rockville, Maryland.

An 18 year-old student was arrested for plotting to attack a high school and an elementary school. Police found a 129-page manifesto describing the attacks, including this chilling line: "I have also considered shooting up my former elementary school because little kids make easier targets."

The physiology here is very telling. While most media outlets are reporting the student's name is "Alex," the police statement indicates that is a "preferred name" and the student's real first name is "Andrea." The statement then proceeds to refer to Andrea as "he."

Before the trans phenomenon became popular, driven by the Biden administration, the money-hungry medical establishment, and the insane left, school shootings were universally committed by boys. Why, all of a sudden, are girls becoming so violent?

I have a theory: These "trans boys" are being pumped full of male hormones, which makes them more aggressive. That's why men grow large muscles, go off to fight wars, and are more likely to respond physically in various situations.

At the same time, our twisted culture is telling her that she is a victim, that she is discriminated against, and that she is hated. So, she reacts to those messages as an angry young man would. 

Plus, these sick doctors are not addressing the multitude of other mental health issues that transgender individuals are almost always suffering from. In short, they are treating the wrong thing and making the other mental health issues worse.

One of the left's favorite arguments is that if you don't allow these children suffering from gender dysphoria to get powerful hormones and deforming surgeries, they are likely to kill themselves. That's not true.

Higher rates of suicide are not related to gender dysphoria but to all the other mental health issues that doctors are ignoring.

In this case, reports indicate that Andrea has been "hospitalized for mental health issues three times since 2022" and once claimed to be Jesus. Furthering her obvious delusions by telling her she is really a boy is medical malpractice and cruel.

But what is increasingly obvious is that if you push struggling and unstable teenagers into these radical, unscientific experiments, they are more likely to kill somebody.

Just a reminder: we still have not been allowed to see the manifesto of the Nashville shooter who murdered six people at a Christian school. I am confident that the reason is because it would be another blow to the insane trans ideology.

Senator Rick Scott's Week in Review

You don't need me to tell you that our country is more dangerous because of Mayorkas and Biden's open border policies. You see the results of the criminals, drugs, terrorists and other dangerous people they've let in our communities and talked about on the news every single day. 

Democrats have done nothing but turn their back on the American people who are being victimized by this border crisis. Democrats voted AGAINST a bill to stop illegal aliens from getting on a commercial flight with no verifiable ID… Democrats voted AGAINST deporting illegal aliens who hurt police… Democrats voted AGAINST the Laken Riley Act, which simply requires ICE to take illegal aliens who commit crimes into custody before tragedies strike... and they blocked the Senate from performing its constitutional duty of holding an impeachment trial. 

To add to their insult, just one day after they blocked the Mayorkas impeachment trial, we have more proof that Biden and Mayorkas are actively releasing terrorists into the country. It's clear that this administration and Democrats in Washington have no problem voting to keep this border crisis going, and blocking every attempt that Republicans make to stop the crime and secure the border. But when it comes to Mayorkas, they're quick to brush this all under the rug. Whether Mayorkas is being silenced because Democrats are terrified of his record and unable to defend him or because Democrats don't trust him, even he couldn't tell me! Either way, the American people DESERVE accountability.

Everyone in America knows that Secretary Mayorkas is guilty of the crimes he was impeached for, and it is an insult to our democratic process that Senate Democrats destroyed our constitutional duty and failed to hold an impeachment trial.

Congressman Good Update: Fighting to Put America First

Foreign Aid Package Puts America Last The House stayed in session two days longer than scheduled this week – not to strengthen America or secure our borders – but to borrow nearly $100 billion to send overseas to defend and secure OTHER countries. We voted this week on a 4-bill supplemental foreign aid package that borrows $95 billion to give to Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan. While Speaker Johnson had promised for months that we would not consider more aid for Ukraine without first forcing the Senate and the White House to join us in securing our borders, he reversed course this week.   My House Freedom Caucus colleagues and I worked hard to try to persuade the Speaker to break the supplemental spending package into individual standalone bills. We urged him to pass a paid-for Israel bill first, and pressure the Senate to take it up in response to last weekend's attack by Iran. We also pressed him to keep his commitment to require the Senate and the White House to agree to true border security measures in order to consider any additional aid for Ukraine, and to require it to also be paid for with offsetting spending reductions.  Unfortunately, the Speaker ignored our requests and moved forward with the combined 4-bill spending package that was not paid for, borrows $95 billion from our kids and grandkids, does nothing to address the border invasion, and was passed primarily with Democrat votes. One of the bills in the package provides support for Israel, but it isn't paid for, and $9 billion was added for Gaza (Hamas) aid in order to buy Democrat votes! To add insult to injury, the Speaker added a separate weakened border bill that will not be taken up by the Senate, because it is not attached to the Ukraine funding bill, and so there is no leverage to force them to act. It will simply give political cover for those who voted separately to fund Ukraine. I offered an amendment to the $60 billion Ukraine portion of the 4-bill foreign aid package that would prohibit funds from going to Ukraine until illegal border crossings are reduced to less than 1,000 per day (versus the approximately 10,000 flowing through now). Unfortunately, this amendment was not made in order, and did not receive a vote.   One positive sign this week was the willingness of a record 55 Republicans to vote on Friday to oppose the rule, in a last-ditch attempt to block the advancement of the legislation to the House Floor. While this was an unprecedented number of Republicans who were willing to take this rare procedural action, 165 Democrats responded by taking the extraordinary step to vote for the rule, giving evidence of a prearranged deal in advance of the vote. I ultimately voted against all 4 bills in the package because of the borrowed money, my opposition to more aid for Ukraine, the failure to address the border invasion, and the $9 billion that will go to Hamas. We are $35 trillion in debt and on track to reach $37 trillion by the end of the year. More than $10 million illegals have invaded our country in Biden's 3 years in office. Our current trajectory is unsustainable, and we have to force change in Washington.

WHO Agreement Threatens our Sovereignty The Biden Administration is quietly planning to subject the United States to a "treaty" with the United Nations' World Health Organization (WHO) without ratification by the Senate. This new agreement would severely compromise our national sovereignty and require the United States to yield to international law whenever the WHO declared a health crisis. If the WHO declared a health crisis, climate crisis, "gun violence" crisis, poverty crisis, or any other so-called "crisis", the U.S. would be required to submit to whatever mitigation measures the WHO (China) determined was "necessary."   The WHO and the UN have essentially become tools of Communist China, and they collaborated to deceive us during COVID. President Trump wisely withdrew the U.S. from the WHO before leaving office, but President Biden reversed course and reentered the WHO in 2021. I am proud to co-sponsor legislation by my friend Rep. Chip Roy (TX) to defund the WHO. The United States should reject the WHO "treaty", always require Senate ratification for any such agreement, and never agree to compromise American sovereignty.

Defund the NPR Act This week I introduced my Defund the NPR Act. Its purpose is to ensure that that no taxpayer dollars fund the biased radical left messaging at National Public Radio (NPR). This legislation prohibits federal funding of NPR and prevents local public radio stations from using federal grant money to purchase content or pay dues to NPR. NPR was originally created to be an educational news source and to "speak with many voices, many dialects." In the 55 years since NPR was founded, they have become a primary outlet for advancing biased and radical media coverage of political and social issues. Unfortunately, since then the taxpayer-subsidized network has strayed from its initial mission and now serves as a leftist propaganda machine.
